Recently, China Aluminum Corporation Guizhou Branch has achieved a major breakthrough in the technological research of aluminum alloy ingot casting, successfully developing a new high-value-added product - large-diameter round ingots of 7005 wrought aluminum alloy.

7005 hard aluminum alloy round ingots, with their high strength and excellent rolling processing performance, are widely used in aerospace, industrial, transportation, and other fields. The market demand is robust, and only a few domestic enterprises are capable of producing them. However, due to factors such as small production volume and unstable quality, 90% of the products still need to be imported, and the import volume is showing an upward trend year by year. In early 2007, Guizhou Branch of Aluminum Corporation of China, utilizing the world-leading wrought aluminum alloy gas curtain casting production line it had introduced, and in collaboration with research institutions, overcame difficulties and continuously explored by employing mature melt purification technology and melting and casting technology. By the end of October, through rigorous testing, they successfully developed large-diameter round ingots of 7005 wrought aluminum alloy. So far, 40 tons of φ380 round ingots of 7005 alloy have been produced, and analysis results indicate that the product quality meets the composition requirements of 7005 alloy.

This product is the first in the 7xxx series of wrought aluminum alloy round ingots. Its successful development has laid a solid foundation for the development of other high-performance aluminum alloy products in this series, marking a new level in the company's aluminum alloy melting and casting capabilities. It is of great significance for further improving product quality, adjusting product structure, and enhancing the company's independent innovation capabilities.
